Some love stories feel like they were meant to be played on the big screen, and this is definitely one of them. Their engagement session at the Waterloo Movie Theater couldn’t have been a more perfect place to capture their story.
This place isn’t just any location for them, this is where everything began. Their very first date happened right here, and a few years later Jordan got down on one knee and proposed in the very same theater, making it the spot where their love came full circle. So, of course, when it came time to capture their engagement photos, there was no question that this was the place to do it.
The neon lights of the theater, the cozy seats, and even the nostalgia of walking through those familiar doors made this session feel so personal and meaningful. Instead of just snapping pretty photos, we were capturing their story; the memories of where it all started and the promise of everything that’s to come.
Kari and Jordan are SO natural together, laughing, sneaking kisses, and sharing little glances that made it easy to see just how much love they have for one another. From playful shots outside to romantic moments inside the theater where it all began, every image felt like it belonged in their own movie.
As a wedding and engagement photographer, I always tell my couples that choosing a location that’s meaningful to their relationship adds such a unique and authentic touch to their photos. This session was the perfect example of that. The Waterloo Movie Theater isn’t just a building, it’s a part of Kari and Jordan’s love story, and now they’ll forever have these photos to look back on.
I can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day and continue capturing the chapters of their story.
Planning your own engagement session? Whether it’s at a favorite coffee shop, your family farm, or a tucked-away spot in the Cedar Valley, I’d love to help you capture photos that feel like you.
